What this tool does not check
These are the basic size, bleed, resolution and font checks. If you need:

Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes, and no sign-up. The check runs entirely in your browser, so it costs us nothing to offer and there is no usage limit.
Does my file get uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is read with the browser file API and analysed on your own machine. It is never sent to a server, never stored, and we never see it. You can verify that: disconnect from the network after the page loads and the tool still works.
What exactly does it check?
The page size against the one you ask for, the bleed in millimetres on each side, the resolution each image prints at, and whether every font is embedded. Those are the most common reasons a print shop sends a file back.
Why does it not check colour?
Because telling CMYK from RGB, reading profiles or finding spot inks means decompressing and inspecting every image, and that cannot be done reliably inside a browser. Those checks live in the product, which does process the file.
Can I trust the result?
Bleed and size come from the PDF's own boxes (TrimBox, BleedBox and MediaBox). If the PDF does not declare a bleed box we flag it, because the room up to the sheet edge may only be there for the crop marks. It also draws each page in your browser and checks that, wherever the design touches the trim, it carries on through the bleed. Your supplier always has the final say.
Does it work for JPG, TIFF or Illustrator files?
PDF only here, since that is the format artwork is finalised in. Inside Entregarte you can define per campaign which formats you accept from your customers.
